Historical Picture

The 3.7 Flak43 was a definitive improvement of past series of 3.7 cm flak guns. It replaced the various models used by ground forces and the navy with a simpler and more combat effective design. It took certain details of the MK103 gun which increased the rate of fire.

In FHSW it is available in an ground based mount and is the maingun in the Flakpanzer IV "Ostwind". Several are also mounted in the Flakturm IV gun batteries, coupled with 2 cm Flakvierling 38 guns. They fire in unison although the Flakvierling guns cease fire when they have to reload their 20 round magazines which the 3.7cm guns do not, as the 3.7cm Flak 43 doesn't have to stop firing for the eight round magazine to reload. Just like the Soviet 37 mm which is mounted in the ZSU-37 and the 40 mm Bofors used by the Allies and some co-belligerents to Germany such as Finland and Hungary. The hungarian 40M Nimrod essentially being a lighter Flakpanzer IV "Ostwind" with this different gun with a slightly larger round and lower rate of fire.
