The 40 mm Bofors gun is one of the most recognisable anti-aircraft guns. It was developed during the interwar period by Swedish arms manufacturer Bofors for the Swedish navy the 40-mm Bofors gun to replace their British QF 2-pounder AA "Pom-Pom" guns. It was later adopted different countries including just about all of the Allied powers and also Finland and Hungary. Like the .50 M2HB Browning, It is still used by many militaries. A fast rate of fire and high muzzle velocity for a 40mm gun made it an effective multi-purpose weapon. It has been used widely on ships and in static positions for air defense and combat against naval targets but also in armoured vehicles such as the Hungarian 40M Nimrod and US M19 GMC. Trucks and half-tracks were also used as a gun platform for it but the only example in FHSW is the T54E1 on the M3A1 half-track.
The model from Battlefield 1942 is unchanged in Forgotten Hope. Penetrating power of the gun is more than the original, and also compared to the 2 cm Flak 38. According to their intended role it is well suited to destroy enemy aircraft in the near to medium-range, heavy bomber like the Junkers Ju 88 but this can plug in quite a few hits. Since the projectiles fly relatively slowly and aircraft are very fast, it is necessary that aim holds up very far to meet his goal.
With the Bofors lightly armoured vehicles and even tanks can be destroyed, however, the problem is that the gun can not be addressed under the horizontal or if sandbags are on the way.Gun can also overheat, thus compensating for this part again. In FHSW the Bofors now has a correct magazine, the reload time is so short, that is hard to notice. Unlike in Forgotten Hope, in FHSW you see individual cartridges in the magazine and it is also animated that the number of these decreases with each shot and empty shells are ejected backwards.
Mobile[]
There is a Bofors gun on a trailer which can towed by the M3 Half-track. Like the 2 cm Flak 30 the mobile gun has limited traverse. In the Bofors case this is especially limited vertically and the recoil is pushing the gun backwards. To stabilize the gun support legs can be put down entering the second seat and pressing the right mouse button by default. Anyone crewing the gun after pressing this button will die due to the technical limitations of the game since technically the gun disappears and the static version appears in its place.

The first export order of Bofors guns was for twin mountings on the Dutch cruiser De Ruyter in the early 1930s. The design of the mount would be known as the Hazemeyer and would be adopted by the British navy in 1940. The twin Bofors gun mount is on several larger ships and fires twice as fast as a single gun. It cannot be found in ground emplacements, only on ships and the anti-aircraft vehicle M19 has it as a main weapon, but it is mounted differently.

Mk 12 is two twin gun mounts placed on a rotatable frame, accordingly fire power doubled again.
Ingame, you can find them on many American vessels, such as the carriers of the Essex class or the USS South Dakota class, sometimes carriage has also a shield to protect the gun crew.

This is a development of the British Bofors with incredibly high rate of fire of six Bofors guns and an almost impenetrable hail of bullets in the sky. The effect is amplified further by the fact that the dispersion of the projectiles is relatively large, which makes it difficult, but at the same time the selective, firing to a single aircraft.
The Bofors Mark VI used only on the British HMS Lion and on some maps as stationary AA-Gun. Like on Gazaps.
