The AMX-13 is a French light tank that was designed in 1946 and later produced from 1952 to 1987. AMX-13 was named after its initial weight of 13 tonnes, but the final design would weigh about 14, about 4 tonnes less than the M24 Chaffee. The low weight requirement, about as heavy as the Italian M13/40 and its later variants was so that it could be air-portable to support paratroopers. There have been dozens of variants made of the AMX-13, besides the standard 75 mm gun. 90 mm and 105 mm guns were also fitted in 1960s. Some AMX-13 were made with a M24 Chaffee turret.
The AMX 13 light tank is quite a heavy hitter for a light tank, the tank has a "magazine" of twelve rounds where each round is reloaded quite quickly which when depleted takes a long time to make the next twelve rounds ready to fire.
The design is quite like the heavier AMX 50 in many aspects apart from the distinct look. Both have high firepower and mobility but they are both quite fragile.
