The AMX 50 Surbaissé was the planned successor of the ARL 44. Larger gun and higher speed were the main improvements sacrificing some armour in the process. Using the aforementioned firepower and speed is vital.

The Surbaissé "lowered" (in terms of armour) version of the AMX 50 was ligher than the Surblindé or uparmoured version, frontal armour is still thick enough and sloped but the sides are considerable weakpoints. The hull has less armour than turret so hiding the hull behind cover may neglect this disadvantage.

The gun is exceptional with its high caliber, rangefinder and autoloader, especially against soviet tanks which do not have autoloader systems. Using the mobility to hit the opponent first is vital to take down other heavy tanks and not letting them hit in the first place. The rangefinder makes each shot more accurate.

The weight of the vehicle was still a prevailing issue and was one of the reasons it was never entered into service, 5 examples were built.

The French military had access to a surplus of MG152/20 post-war. These were mounted or at some point planned to be on a number of vehicles, including the AMX 50, a SPAA version of the AMX 13, helicopters, fighter planes, warships and Citroën 2CV utility cars.

This tank is one of the most powerful that is available for the allied forces. It can be found on the Way to Paris, Desert Hill and other fictional maps.
