The ARL 44 is heavy tank that was the result of the liberation of france and the french military's resurrection of tank development. In order to tackle the Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger and other heavy tanks while being behind most major powers in technical development it was heavily armoured. The ARL 44 design took some elements of past french designs such as the Char B1 tank.
While similar to the Char B1 in characteristics it's firepower is more in line with other heavy tanks it faces.
The turret offers little gun depression meaning it is impossible to engage targets below unless positioned on a downward slope. This also makes it hard to peek from behind hills and such.
