This map is the most popular map in FHSW, since it is a polygon for German and American prototype vehicles, introduced in new versions of FHSW, such as hulking Maus or its American counterpart - T95 Super Heavy Tank. Besides that, map is balanced in its own way: American has air supremacy and a bunch of medium tanks, while Germans are dug into well-fortified multi level defense lines.
History[]
The Alpenfestung was a plan to set up a national redoubt, an highly defensible position that could be held when other areas couldn't be defended with the limited military power available. And if succesful preserve national independence and lead to a truce.
No serious effort was ever shown to make the Alpenfestung, instead it worked as a tool of deception. The Allied forces diverted their forces into the alps instead of heading to Berlin with greater force.
