Forgotten Hope Secret Weapon Wiki

The Category Light tanks show us which Light Tank we have ingame. Light Tank is a tank variant with relatively low weight which often means the tank is lightly armored, with light weaponry but it is fast. Many are designed as an infantry support and later reconnaissance. However, some country's use medium tanks as infantry tanks such as the medium tanks Matilda II and Valentine. Early light tanks were generally armed and armored similar to an Armored car, but used tracks in order to provide better cross-country mobility. The fast light tank was a major feature of the pre-WWII buildup, where it was expected they would be used to exploit breakthroughs in enemy lines created by slower, heavier tanks. Numerous small tank designs and "tankettes" were developed during this period and known under a variety of names, including Combat Car. The light tank has been one of the few tank variants to survive the development of the main battle tank, and has seen use in a variety of roles including support of light airborne or amphibious forces and reconnaissance. A few major light tanks in FHSW are the American Stuarts, the British Light Tank Mk VI, the French Renault R-35, the Soviet BT-7, the Polish 7TP, the German Panzer II's, the Italian Carro Armato L6/40, the Japanese Type 95 Ha-Go and the Hungarian Toldi's.

Light tanks were mostly early or pre war designs that were largely superceded by heavier tanks with some exceptions such as the M24 Chaffee during the war. In FHSW the VK 16.02 "Leopard" is featured, which was cancelled due to being seen as outdated by late 1943. But in this mod, several variants of it are featured. Also the post war french design the AMX 13 appears on maps set just years after the war, such as on Desert Hill and Way to Paris.
