The E-25 designs, in the 25-50 tonnes weight class, were to be the replacements of all Panzer III and Panzer IV based designs, with Alkett, Argus and Adler, with involvement of the Porsche firm. This family would include medium reconnaissance vehicles, medium Jagdpanzer and heavy Waffenträger, using five Tiger II style road wheels but larger per side in a similar overlapping layout to the lighter E-10 suspension, also with "slack-track" design and a rear drive sprocket. For main armament a 75mm Pak 42 L/70 was planned and also a possible MG in a small turret, similar to the Hetzer tank destroyer. This tank would have been very maneuverable, and due to it's low profile, hard to spot on the battlefield.

The E-10 and E-25 were designed so as to use as many of the same components as possible to ease maintenence and production which had been an issue with having so many types of vehicles.

It is similar to the Jagdpanzer IV (V) since it has the same main gun but is an clear upgrade in mobility and secondary armament which increases its versatility. The powerful engine and automatic 20 mm gun in the turret on top is the outstanding feature which while not effective against most tanks it will face can engage many other types of targets in any direction. The 20 mm gun turret was not actually part of the E-25 design, it was a feature on several of the vehicles developed by Porsche as an alternative to the E-25. But in an American intelligence report a bunch of design elements were mixed together under the name E-25.

German arms development shifted to HEAT type weapons during the later part of the war, partly due to the lack of materials such as Tungsten which due to its hardness was used in APDS rounds which the British used to increase armour penetration even further. The Panzerabwehrwerfer 1000, later designated Panzerwurfkanone 10H64 was a new design with some benefits compared to traditional anti-tank guns. It could reach similar performance firing HEAT rounds in armor penetration and damage while having a lighter and shorter barrel, the effect on target would also be the same regardless how far away with hollow charge projectiles. The effective range was lower though due to the low muzzle velocity. The PAW 1000 was the larger version compared to the other gun of this type, PAW 600 8cm. The actual caliber for the PAW 1000 was 105mm.

The MG151/20 mounted in a turret on top of the vehicle is a higher caliber variant of the MG151(/15), an autocannon mounted on aircraft.
