The FG 42 (German: Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 or "paratrooper rifle 42") was a selective fire battle rifle produced in Nazi Germany between 1943-45. The weapon was developed specifically for the use with Fallschirmjäger airborne infantry in 1942 and was used in very limited numbers until the end of the war. The FG 42 fired in semi-automatic mode from a closed bolt, accomplished by delaying the release of the firing pin (mounted on the bolt carrier and released by the front sear notch) until after the trigger had been pressed; the short lock time, and little movement in the action during firing translated into greater single-shot accuracy.

With the FG 42 as with many other light machineguns you have no secondary weapon or grenades. Although rarely the FG-42 comes with an Panzerfaust 150, such as on the map Eagles Nest 1946 found inside the last german base on the map. The FG 42 can be found on many maps near bases and such under German control.

The FG 42 may also be used by regular infantry, the difference being a lack of a parachute in the kit and the standard helmet instead of the one made for paratroopers.
Both the M2 Carbine and FG 42 are one of the few selective fire weapons. By switching with the "2" and "3" keys by default from semi to automatic fire. The bipod is not useable, but the weapon is nevertheless very accurate while prone or in any static position.
Scope version[]
The FG-42 with accesories like a scope, bipod, bayonet and grenade launcher exist only as custom map content. It made first appearance on the map Sabage Field1942 and then on the more conventionally played map Rheinmetall panzer in the Japanese custom map event of March 2022.
