The Fiat CR.42 Falco was an Italian biplane fighter aircraft. Like the previous CR.32 it was armed with atleast two machine guns either in 7.7 mm or 12.7 mm caliber, two 12.7 mm guns later became the standard. The CR.42AS variant could also have a 200 kg payload of bombs. It was the standard Italian fighter aircraft at the start of WWII and continued to be used until the end. Initially mostly against other biplanes like the Gloster Gladiator that the British and Greeks had.
The CR.42 was bought by a few different countries as war tension rose before WWII. The Belgian Air Force was the first to use the CR.42 in battle when the Germany invaded in 1940. Hungary was another major user and the first foreign buyer. Hungarian CR.42 were used during the invasion of Yugoslavia and later against the Soviet Union. In FHSW the Hungarian CR.42 are armed with 12.7 mm 1940M GKM machine guns with significantly higher rate of fire.
