The Iosif Stalin tank (or IS tank, also known as the Joseph Stalin tank), was a heavy tank developed by the Soviet Union during World War II. The tanks in the series are also sometimes called JS tanks. The heavy tank was designed with thick armour to counter the German 88 mm guns, and carried a main gun that was capable of defeating the German Tiger and Panther tanks. It was mainly a breakthrough tank, firing a heavy high-explosive shell that was useful against entrenchments and bunkers. The IS-2 was put into service in April 1944, and was used as a spearhead in the Battle of Berlin by the Red Army in the final stage of the war. Ingame we have nine IS variants: IS-1, IS-100, IS-2, IS-3,IS-3/D-30, IS-4, Object 701-1, Object 701-2 and OTIS-4.

The IS-4 was the final line of IS type tanks to be produced, although production had not begun before the second world war ended. It was designed for the war against Germany and their heavy tanks such as the Tiger II. The armour was improved further and the turret is bigger, resulting in higher reload speed compared to the IS-3.

The Object 701-1 has the S-34-II canon which deals more penetration than the gun on the IS-4. The "Rammer" attribute means the reload speed is relatively high.

An unique feature for the Object 701- series compared to other soviet tanks is the mortar mounted on top of the turret. Similar to the Nahverteidigungswaffe on many a german tank or the two inch mortar on turret of the TOG-2 and TOG-3.

Unlike the IS-4 these have the standard coaxial machinegun.

General Ingame Information
Ammunition APBC
Seat 2 DShK
Seat 3 50mm Mortar S-11
HE (50 Rounds)

Same gun as on the IS-100 although the addition of a "Rammer" and the different turret hastens reload speed and effective rate of fire.

An unique feature for the Object 701- series compared to other soviet tanks is the mortar mounted on top of the turret. Similar to the Nahverteidigungswaffe on many a german tank or the two inch mortar on turret of the TOG-2 and TOG-3.

Main armament 122mm L/43 D-25T
Coaxial weapon 7.62x54R DTM
General Ingame Information
Seat 2 ATO-42 (Single shot) (150 shots)
Seat 3 DShK
Seat 4 Passenger Seat
Seat 5 Passenger Seat

IS-4 with ATO-42 flamethrower device mounted inside the turret, this flamethrower device is special in that fires one shot of flame and then has to reload which takes roughly five seconds. It can not aim independently from the gun, therefore the operator must first aim with the tank gun and then switch to the flamethrower by pressing 2. Flame ammo capacity is 150. With the exception of the flame thrower and the DTM instead of the DShK as coaxial weapons, the tank is just like IS-4.
