The Howa Type 89 Assault rifle has been the standard service rifle of the Japan's armed forces since 1989. Naturally its presence in this mod centered on WWII is very limited. Only serving as an Easter Egg on certain maps this rifle is both the rarest and most modern weapon in FHSW. One of the locations it can be found is in Sand Storm. There are two versions of the weapon. Either with a 20 round magazine, folding stock or solid stock, 30 round magazine with ability to launch rifle grenades or mount a bayonet. It has the only HE rifle grenade that fires without delay. With the exception of this rifle, the maps featuring the JSDF made by the user Somebody009j like Battle over Tottori feature vehicles and other eqiupment made by himself.
The Howa Type 89 Rifle was a move from the previous service rifle which fires a rifle cartridge to an intermediate cartridge. In FHSW it technically is chambered in 7.92x33mm like the Stg 44 instead of 5.56x45mm.
