Before World War Two, Japanese commercial trucks were used by the military branches of Japan. However those trucks were very poor and Japan could not rely on them for military service. So it was decided to commission a purposebuilt military truck whilst supporting private motorcar companies and made them develop a military 6-wheeled truck. It was the Type 94 6-Wheeled Truck from the Isuzu company which was taken in production and service. Developed in 1934, or in Imperial year 2694, the Type 94 Truck was reliable and had a good performance. Type 94 was produced in the largest numbers among the Japanese trucks and used widely until WWII ended. It was used to transport infantry, supply and also as artillery tractor for the light guns like the 47 mm Type 1 anti-tank gun and Type 88 75 mm AA gun. In FHSW it is the only truck that can tow artillery that is not an half-track design.
There were two production variants, either with a diesel or gasoline engine. But as with many military vehicles several other modifications were done in the field resulting in many other variants. The gasoline powered version with the 6-cylinder L head water cooled engine, which producing 43 hp and make a top speed of 60 km/h, and the 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing roughly the same hp and with a maximum speed of 69 km/h.
Both the Type 94 truck and 20mm Type 98 AA gun were common and reliable pieces of eqiupment, combining them enabled for mobile air defence. The walls around the gun can be turned up or down.
