The battle of Korsun-Cherkassy pocket was an encirclement of the German forces of army group south. While German forces did break out of the pocket great losses were suffered, especially in heavy equipment.
German forces have to hold on to all flags, connecting both of their bases to win. They have an advantage in armoured vehicles but even if a single flag is taken from them will lead to ticket bleed.
Soviets have bases in the Northwest and Southeast while the Germans have in the other corners.
