While the more authentic Battle of Midway only features naval and air combat this map has ground battles as US forces have to hold on to their Island and the two flags on it while the Japanese must capture it.
There are also two flags at sea, north and south of the island. The map is an original Battlefield 1942 map that has been tweaked.
IJN Hiryū and USS Enterprise (CV-6) are the respective team's aircraft carrier.
Type B1 submarine and USS Gato (SS-212) their submarines.
IJN Yamato and USS South Dakota (BB-57) the battleships.
IJN Mogami and USS Atlanta (CL-51) cruisers.
The Japanese are the only side with tanks and a landing ship of sorts in the Tsurumi Oiler. Which has Daihatsu 14M VLC with both a signle Type 95 Ha-Go or two Type 38 75 mm Field Guns.
