The No.4 bayonet is also known as the Spike. This bayonet was a short awl-shaped bayonet designed for the new No.4 Lee-Enfield rifle as succesor of the P1903 Lee-Enfield, P1907 Lee-Enfield and the P1913 Lee-Enfield "sword" bayonets from World War One. Mk.II version of the spike bayonet was even cheaper than the first one and was the most produced. The total length of 254mm included the 230mm blade. Even with a simple design as this one there were two more versions of it that were made to make it even cheaper, the MkII* and finally the Mk.III that was made from pieces of stamped steel.
