SSP

Also abbreviated as "s.Sp.", is a series of rail cars featuring different turrets on the same type of car each with its own engine and gun ports on each side of the hull for the MG 34. The armour is light, 7 to 20 millimeters. The speed is near the average of a tank, 40 km/h. Although if a single wagon has to push another wagon or a flatcar, it is very slow.

Designed as heavy reconnaisance, being an armoured train also offered modularity as different wagons could be put together depending on the mission. Every wagon could also operate independently. It was developed in 1943 and put in service late 1944. It was to defend the vital railroads and supply trains behind the lines from partisans and other sabotage.

The train ingame has twelve carts if including the flatcars carrying Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) at each end of the train. When in the drivers position or the first seat, pressing A or D will disconnect the cart with the one in front of it or behind it respectively.

Compared to the Panzertriebwagen 16 mit Panzerjägerwagen T-34 it has more utility but ultimately unsuited for combat against armoured vehicles. But is well armed and has very few blind spots when facing infantry and the Flakwagen of this train can take on aircraft, which the other train can not do effectively. A thing to put in mind is that entire train will not respawn if atleast one cart has not been destroyed. Therefore it is advisable to destroy empty carts and especially those that have derailed to get back a whole train.

Due to this, it is yet only available anachronistically in the map Bryansk set in 1942. As it is one of the few maps featuring Soviet partisans and has one of the longest railway lines in the game.

Armed with multiple MG 34 which can each fire from two different gun ports by switching between them with the A and D keys by default. The first seat is in the cupola and is unarmed and may be used to drive the individual cart or the whole train if other carts have been destroyed and the red flag has moved to the cart. What looks like a turret is actually fixed, but the guns have a wide field of fire through each slits and can change gun ports. As there are two gunners, one in the front and back they switch between gun ports either at a left or right angle in their respective direction. Gunners in the hull can either fire at the side or the front of the vehicle, which if part of the train only has a asymmetric small field of fire due to obstruction.

This wagon resupplies ammunition.

Same armament and design as the Infanteriewagen, but with an antenna for radio communication on top. Instead of ammunition the health of soldiers is restored while inside. Initially this wagon is the one with the red flag that controls the whole train, if destroyed another wagon takes on the role. Starting with the other Kommandowagen and then the wagon that would be closest to the wagon that had the red flag first, in a back and forth pattern until no carts are left.

Like the Jagdpanzer VI Jagdtiger the seat in the cupola can both mark locations for the artillery and "point", which shows up as an arrow on the minimap and plays a audible message: "Feind voraus!"/Enemy there!.

Without the added armour on the gun mantlet, side skirts, smoke launchers and stowage bin otherwise found on the back of the Ausf. N tank turret. So as to not strain the Steyr engine with excess weight. The whole vehicle is 5 tonnes lighter than the tank.

The low velocity gun can either fire HE or HEAT rounds, though since it is type A it has relatively low penetration (80mm), the Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.B for instance may have the type C with 20mm higher maximum penetration. HEAT rounds have a purple tracer/colour and HE is red.

There are two of these in the train.

Unlike the other train cars this AA variant never left the drawing board. The turret of the Flakpanzer IV "Wirbelwind" is mounted. The height of the car may limit it when facing ground targets at and those that are situated below the wagon. Nevertheless an extremely effective weapon against unarmoured and lightly armoured ground targets. Having high capacity and rate of fire. The user may use only two barrels at once, to conserve ammo and always have the other two ready to fire while the other reload.

There are two of these in the train.

Panzertraegerwagen[]

This train can transport light armoured vehicles such as the Panzerkampfwagen 38(t). Its slightly larger relative, the Jagdpanzer 38(t) "Hetzer" was also planned to be loaded on these late in the war. The armoured car Panzerspähwagen P204(f) (Panhard 178) could also be loaded. Flatcars were often on the ends of an armoured train also as a form of security, if there were mines or the track was damaged it would be less of a loss to lose a flatcar than a wagon full of people.

The vehicle will respawn on the flatcar once it is destroyed.

Credits[]

This whole train was made by eYe.ris, who also made the other train, the PT16 and the Flakpanzer IV "Wirbelwind". While models of the basic train car and flakvierling turret and simple textures had been left in the Forgotten Hope mod eYe.ris made his own models & textures from scractch.
