The Semovente L40 is a combination of an italian 47 mm at gun (Elefantino) and the italian L6/40 Light tank chassis. The L6/40 Light tank was originally also planned to be base for a short 75mm gun but the tank was too small for it to be practical. The Semovente 47/32 saw action in Russia, Africa, Italy and the Balkans. It was most useful in the Balkans since it would face much larger threats on other fronts where it was used by Italians, Germans which sent them to Croatian anti-partisan units and some were captured by Yugoslav partisans. The cannon is nothing spectacular, it is the same as the Carro Armato M13/40. The vehicle has no other weapon. During the war Carcano Mod.91/38, Beretta M 38a and hand grenades were brought by the operators for defence.
