The Type 5 Chi-Ri medium tank never went further than the protoype phase. Only one was ever partially built which was captured by the americans after the surrender. Prototypes for a tank destroyer based on it was the Type 5 Ho-Ri of which there were two designs.
The Type 5 line of tanks were the result of information gathered by the japanese from the european eastern front. Which proved the need of heavier tanks. The Type 5 tanks were reserved for the defense of the japanese main islands.
It appears on the map Asagiri-1946 as the main type of tank and also on Deccan Plateau.
