About halfway through 1941, the MAN factory was commissioned to design a 16-ton reconnaissance vehicle. In November of that year, the drawings were presented. It was a vehicle with a very sharp, sloped hull consisting of 80mm of front armour, 60mm at the sides and about 50 mm at the rear. The design greatly resembled that of the Pzkpfw V "Panther", but because of its sharper angle of armor, the VK 16.02 - as it was named temporarily - had better defense against penetrations. With the combination of mobility and armor, the vehicle can defend itself while fighting in and scouting around enemy territory.

In FHSW the vehicle's model is an approximation. It is believed that the vehicle would have appeared as we see it on the screenshots. The turret was nearly the same as that of the Sd.Kfz. 234 "Puma". According to the data, the gun would be a 7.5 cm KwK 41, which was an adaptation of the 7.5cm PaK 41. A squeeze bore cannon which increases the velocity and penetration considerably compared to guns of the same caliber. A 150 PaK 41 guns were produced but it's performance at longer ranges and rare natural resources it required meant a stop to further production.

The vehicle is equiped with six smoke grenades projectors, which can be used ingame via seat 2. In the roof of the turret, there is a periscope which can rotate 360° and also can be used ingame via seat 2.

The remarkable feature of the vehicle is the extending roof-mounted telescope. Also, the six smoke launchers - just like the Pzkpfw II Ausf L "Luchs" ingame - can be used to create a smoke screen while defending the vehicle. This vehicle's ability is comparable to the Sd.Kfz. 234/2 "Puma". It is a quick and mobile vehicle for reconnaissance but it is armed with a more powerful gun, also having heavier armor and of course an ability to rotate the turret 360°.
