The Yakovlev Yak-3 was a Soviet Fighter plane. Like the Yakovlev Yak-9 it was derived from the Yak-1, it also had the same engine as the Yak-9 but being both smaller and lighter meant it had a high power-to-weight ratio. From a fighter plane variants were made to turn it into an interceptor or tank destroyer with different 20 to 37 mm autocannons.
Yak-3[]
The Yak-3 has the same armament as the Yak-9. Its lighter weight makes it dedicated fighter plane which is manueverable but with no provisions for bombs.

This was a post-war modification that was not used in combat. The Yak-3P had three Berezin B-20 20 mm cannons. They were first made in 1944 and had the same design as the Berezin UB machine gun but made larger to accept the 20 mm ammunition used by the 20 mm ShVAK. It was an improvement since it was lighter and still just as effective.
Yak-3T[]
The Yak-3T is armed with a heavy 37 mm autocannon which means the mobility is slightly decreased. To fit the NS-37 the nose section was heavily modified, even the cockpit had to be moved further back. This variant had issues with its engine that were never fixed which was one of the reasons that it did not go beyond the prototype stage.
The Yak-3 model was made by Frank.
